Unfortunately, we feel it is best to cancel our March 21st Common Lives Community meeting. We will hold back for now on canceling April’s event, but we do know that we will not be able to provide childcare for the April meeting.
Also, Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan has changed how it will hold VictorThon. The event will now be held online. Below are the details and how you can participate. If you’re able to contribute material to them for this event, that would be fantastic. It would be best for them to get it by March 18th, and March 22nd is the deadline to send it.
I hope all of you and your families stay healthy. Stay positive, wash your hands often, and stay home if you’re sick(:
“To all of our Dance Marathon families:
Due to concerns surrounding the 2019 novel coronavirus, COVID-19, Dance Marathon will no longer be hosting our 24-hour event, VictorThon, as it has been traditionally held. Instead, we are excited to host a virtual event in place of VictorThon! This event will stream live on social media and our website, rather than be held physically in the Indoor Training Center. The virtual event will take place during the afternoon of March 28th and pick up again on the morning of March 29th.
While this news is upsetting to us all, we are so excited to offer a number of ways for you and your children to be involved in our virtual event. We would love it if you created a video to show during our Virtual VictorThon, or rallied your social networks behind the cause. Whether this be a video showcasing your child’s talents for our virtual talent show, a filmed runway walk for the fashion show, a testimonial to your family’s experience in Dance Marathon, or a video discussing your concerns as a parent during this difficult time, we would be happy to accept any and all content you wish to include. We want to keep all of you as involved as possible in this experience, and we would love the help of your experiences to motivate dancers to continue fundraising, even as the event looks different.
Despite these unfortunate circumstances, we hope to use this virtual event as an opportunity to bring the campus and the community together for our Little Victors. Now more than ever, the health of you and your children is incredibly important to us, and we are hoping to use our Virtual VictorThon to spread that mission, both now and in the future.
Please feel free to reach out to Carolyn and Sumrah with any questions you may have. The directors welcome any communication at email@example.com as well. Thank you so much for your continued involvement with Dance Marathon, and stay tuned for more updates on Virtual VictorThon as the weeks progress.
